California for the holidays. A little bit of rain but cannot complain about those California winters! A trip to Golden Gate Park to see the de Young Museum and the California Academy of Sciences was a must. Last time we were here the CAS was still under construction. Here is the Google Street View trike for those hard to get to locations, which we have quite of few of here in Luzern. The operator was preparing for launch into our Old Town where the cobblestone streets are narrow and the turns tight. We stood and watched the elaborate prep work taking place in […]

Franz Erhard Walther exhibit at the KKL, in Luzern. This image, taken from the exhibition flyer, is one of many, many water colors/drawings hung together to create a wall of work. Competed in the Head Vitis Open 2010 squash tournament in Schlieren, Zürich, today. I won my first match in three sets and lost my next three matches. Even with the loses I had a payoff in the form of Wagamama for dinner! Looking at the Wagamama website and the list of all their locations worldwide, […]

Zürich is divided into 12 districts or Kreis, which means circle in German. Kreis 4 and Kreis 5 have a lot going on for the design enthusiasts in their semi-industrial locations. Today we visited, in addition to one of my favorite bookstore…Hochparterre, the Museum for Gestaltung. The 1933 building was originally designed and continues to […]

Not particularly easy to get to; luckily we had a car. In between Bern and Thun, we visited Wichtrach and the Galerie Henze & Ketterer Kunst-Depot designed by Gigon & Guyer. Stumped for words….
