This is the mountain I will be walking up today. Mt. Pilatus stands at 2057 meters. Alpnachstadt, the starting point of my hike is at 447 meters. They classify this as a medium skill hike and recommend it being completed in five hours, on average. My time: 7 km, 1610 meters in vertical elevation in […]

Heading back to Switzerland, deep into the Italian and French Alps! One last French meal in Chamonix before we head back to the heavy, brown, Germanic palette.

Needless to say, the photos on the website of our hotel are not current! The four stars on their sign perhaps have a different meaning than the universal system we are all accustomed to. We are dining-in at our hotel in Èze, overlooking the Riviera Ligure di Ponente. And yes, I think I have had only foie gras on this trip. I am sticking with the theme. The fresh prawn pasta was also good.

Architectural destination number two for this trip. Château la Coste en Provence. An elaborate Art Center designed by Tadao Ando. We started out in the cafe tasting wines over a light lunch. Then on to the self-guided walking tour where invited artists were asked to choose a place on the domain estate to create a […]

So, we are here now in their tasting room and stocking up on bottles (and magnums!) for this years Christmas celebration. Then on to our lodging for the next […]

The start of our holidays in France. First, a side trip through Germany to visit the new VitraHaus designed by Herzog & deMuron. It’s the super, duper high-end version of the Ikea vignettes. Pretty much everything inside you want to buy, granted you can get that second mortgage to pay for it all. Ronchamp, the destination for our first […]

Another great opportunity to spend time on the Vierwaldstättersee!
